Cashmere production is extremely harmful to the environment. Increased cashmere consumption has caused desertification across Northern Asia. By opting for recycled, we’re able to repurpose existing materials and avoid the negative impact of most cashmere supply chains.

Why we choose Recycled Cashmere:

  • Our cashmere retains the soft and warm qualities of virgin cashmere. The cashmere is a mix of pre and post consumer recycled materials sourced all from within Italy.
  • The fabric supplier is Global Recycling Standard Certified. This means that site is third party audited for social and environmental standards and the materials are certified as recycled.
  • The production impact of virgin cashmere is extremely harmful to planet and people. Between 1999 and 2019, the number of cashmere goats in Mongolia increased almost fourfold from seven million to 27 million (1). The rearing of these goats has led to extreme overgrazing and desertification, severely threatening local communities and natural environments. The goat’s sharp hooves break through topsoil and their eating habits - ripping up plants from their roots - make it impossible for grasslands to survive (2).
