WOOL
Py-Aguazú and La Cuchilla
This season, we are proud to introduce two new farm partners, each embodying the rich tradition of Uruguayan craftsmanship: Py-aguazú, led by Andrea Fraschini in Paysandú, and La Cuchilla, led by Juan Marín Monteverde in Tacuarembó.
Grass-fed livestock production is a deep part of the tradition and identity of Uruguay. These farms operate on 100% natural pastures with native vegetation and regenerative practices. Why is that important?
The nutrition density and quality of the pastures directly affect the wellbeing of the sheep and their wool quality, not to mention, the health of surrounding communities.
Centuries of farming expertise, crafted into this season’s regenerative wool twill.
Py-Aguazú
Py-Guazú is an RWS-Certified and L2M regenerative farm owned and operated by Andrea Fraschini. As an ode to her late father, Andrea re-named her family farm to Py-guazú as a reminder to “be brave.” Having grown up with animals all her life, she describes her commitment and passion for them as instinctive. Her work fostering biodiversity on the land through crop rotations and supporting native vegetation keeps her sheep well fed and has visibly brought diverse wildlife to the area.
LA CUCHILLA
La Cuchilla is an RWS-Certified and L2M regenerative farm owned and operated by Martin Monteverde. This mulesing-free farm cares for their native pastures by improving soils, sequestering carbon, and increasing biodiversity through crop and sheep rotations. Their goal is to honor their sheep at the highest level, ensuring they are always comfortable. They have created a system where a few of the sheep are able to live out their natural full lives.
