Interview with Founder of Furtuna Skin, Agatha Relota Luczo and Vanessa Barboni Hallik of Another Tomorrow

Both Furtuna Skin and Another Tomorrow are built on the principles of sustainability and transparency. What inspired you to create a brand rooted in these values?

Agatha
: When I was pregnant with my first child, I learned that certain chemical ingredients could be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. I cleared out almost all of my beauty products but couldn’t find anything that was naturally derived, high-performing, and transparent about its sourcing—so we decided to create it.

Beyond our commitment to sustainability and transparency, Furtuna Skin is deeply rooted in family and heritage. My husband grew up hearing stories from his Sicilian grandmother about their ancestral land. That land is now La Furtuna Estate, where we cultivate the potent ingredients that power our high-performance formulations.

Vanessa: Starting Another Tomorrow was a beautiful accident. I was on a sabbatical from my former career in finance, when I learned about the immense impact the fashion industry has on the planet.

I was shocked and deeply motivated to be a part of creating another way forward. Another Tomorrow represents a holistic vision for how we can bring fashion - this incredibly important and deeply culturally and individually relevant industry that we all touch - into balance with the planet.

How do you see the intersection of clean beauty and sustainable fashion shaping the future of luxury?

Agatha: Consumers today, particularly in the luxury sector, are demanding not just high-quality, high-performance products but also ethical sourcing, responsible production, and transparency at every stage.

The brands that succeed will be those that seamlessly integrate sustainability and clean beauty into their DNA, offering not just aspirational aesthetics but a true commitment to better practices. In this future, luxury will not just be about indulgence—it will be about impact.

Vanessa: Sustainability is and must define luxury in both fashion and beauty. We have enough collective knowledge at this stage that in the same way that luxury cannot excuse itself from impeccable standards of quality and efficacy, nor can it excuse itself from a responsible approach to its creation and call itself luxury.

How do you engage and educate your community about the importance of sustainability?

Agatha: We really integrate sustainability at every turn, ensuring it’s not just a pillar of our brand but a fundamental practice, meeting strict European regulations and earning certifications like EWG Verified. We openly share details about our regenerative farming methods, biodiversity efforts, and ingredient sourcing, educating our community on the impact of these practices.

Beyond certifications, sustainability is deeply tied to our Sicilian heritage. Our mission to protect the land, restore ecosystems, and support local farmers isn’t just a business decision—it’s a commitment to cultural preservation and a meaningful way of life.

Vanessa: We seek to meet our community where they are with compassion and generosity recognizing how full all of our lives are and offer people multiple pathways and layers of depth of information. Our new flagship retail store in SoHo is hosting a tremendous number of conversations and engagement opportunities.

We also believe in supporting our community with easy ways to make the most of their wardrobes and have listened closely to their pain points, which inspired our “Size Exchange” Program, which allows customers to change sizes within the first year.

Looking back over the past five years, what has been the most rewarding moment in your brand’s journey so far?

Agatha: The most rewarding part of our journey has been the tangible impact we’ve had on both people and the planet. Through our regenerative farming practices, we’ve revived the Biancolilla Centinara––an olive tree species that was on the brink of extinction. We've also helped restore local ecosystems—eagles are once again flying over our land, a powerful sign of renewal. Additionally, by providing sustained employment for farmers in the region, we've revitalized a region that has historically lacked employment opportunities, allowing more families to stay and thrive rather than leave in search of work. On a personal level, the countless messages from customers sharing how our products have transformed their skin remind us why we do what we do.

Vanessa: There are so many. But most recently, at the end of January we celebrated our five year anniversary with our community and Cultured Magazine and the genuine love and joy in that room for what we have collectively built with our partners blew me away. I’m still digesting it. It was a simple and visceral reminder of the honor and privilege to be on this journey every single day and the deep gratitude I have for every person who has supported us on it - from those who took a chance on us when we were scarcely an idea to the customers who make our brand possible with each order.
