The Fall palette feels unexpectedly vibrant.
What inspired this direction?
I like when a palette has depth, saturation, and vibrancy. We do a great deal of color research at the beginning of every season, looking primarily to art, nature, and textiles for inspiration.This palette was informed by colors found in the natural world: cinnamon offers a grounding neutrality, pinot noir evokes the rich, joyful hue of crushed grapes, and celadon and chartreuse are drawn from vibrant flora.
If one material could tell the story of the collection, which would it be, and why?
If one material could tell the story of the collection, it would be wool. This Fall, we explored wool in many different
expressions, from our ethical wool faux fur to our new lightweight wool flannel
and our proprietary shiny wool suiting.
I love the combination of the 100% wool faux fur Balmacaan paired with the organic cotton grommeted pencil skirt. It is a modern twist on traditional “lady” dressing, combining the elegance of a mid-century silhouette with unexpected textures and a contemporary sense of ease.
Is there a particular detail or design element that stands out to you in this collection?
I love the incorporation of scattered grommets on the cotton trench and denim. It is a subtle embellishment, but one that adds a distinctness to these best-selling silhouettes.
I like the way it introduces texture and unexpected detail while maintaining the functionality of the garments. It also elevates these everyday styles, allowing them to transition into more dressy events.
